What is Greenville Senior Advisor?
Greenville Senior Advisor is a free senior care referral and advisory service for families in Greenville and the surrounding Upstate counties of Anderson, Pickens and Laurens, South Carolina.
We publish what South Carolina's regulators actually require, what the published cost data actually says, and every licensed facility on the state's own records, then a local advisor helps you narrow it down. Facilities pay us a referral fee when a family moves in, which is why the service is free to you. You should know that up front.

How does South Carolina license assisted living and memory care?
South Carolina licenses assisted living as community residential care facilities (CRCFs) under DPH Regulation 60-84; memory care is an Alzheimer's special care unit or program inside a licensed CRCF or nursing home, not a separate license.
Every CRCF needs at least one staff member for each eight residents at peak hours and an administrator licensed by the state board. Read the full licensing explanation or how South Carolina regulates Alzheimer's units.
What does senior care cost in South Carolina?
CareScout's 2025 South Carolina medians are about $5,350 a month for assisted living, $9,034 for a semi-private nursing home room and about $31 an hour for home care; CareScout publishes no Greenville figure and no memory care figure.
For residents with very low income, Optional State Supplementation pays a participating CRCF up to $1,719 a month in total, so the payment plan matters as much as the price. See costs and paying for care.
Where should a Greenville family start?
Start from the situation, not the care type: a hospital discharge, a fall, a dementia diagnosis, an exhausted caregiver or money running out each point to different first steps, and our situation guides walk through each one.
