Is there licensed assisted living in Anderson County?

Yes. DPH's data lists community residential care facilities in Anderson, Honea Path and nearby towns, from small 10- and 11-bed residences to buildings of 60 to 90 beds, several flagged for an Alzheimer's special care unit.

The Anderson County page lists every one with licensed beds and enforcement orders.

Which hospital serves Anderson County?

AnMed Medical Center in Anderson, the county's main hospital on DPH's roster, along with AnMed's North Campus and AnMed Health Rehabilitation Hospital.

AnMed Cannon in Pickens also belongs to the AnMed system.

Where is senior care in Pickens County?

Mostly in Easley and Clemson, which hold most of Pickens County's licensed CRCFs and nursing homes, with smaller options in Six Mile, Central and Pickens.

Prisma Health Baptist Easley and AnMed Cannon are the county's hospitals.

Why is Laurens County different for senior services?

Laurens County is in the Upper Savannah aging region rather than the Appalachian region, and it is outside the Upstate PACE program's service area, so its in-home services, ombudsman and program screening come from Upper Savannah COG in Greenwood.

Licensing, Medicaid, OSS and Community Choices rules are the same statewide.

Is there a hospice house near Anderson or Laurens?

Yes. DPH licenses inpatient hospice houses in Anderson (Callie and John Rainey Hospice House) and in Clinton (the Via Health Partners Laurens County hospice house), plus one in Simpsonville.

Hospice houses are for short stays to manage symptoms or give caregivers respite.

Do Anderson and Laurens families have to look in Greenville for care?

Usually not: Anderson has a full range of licensed care and Laurens County has CRCFs and nursing homes in Laurens and Clinton, though families whose children live in Greenville County often look at Simpsonville and Fountain Inn.

Distance to the family member who visits most is usually the deciding factor.

Where are nursing homes in Laurens County?

DPH lists nursing homes in Laurens and Clinton, including NHC Healthcare's Laurens and Clinton homes, the Martha Franks retirement campus in Laurens and the Presbyterian Communities campus in Clinton, all CMS-certified.

Two of those campuses also hold CRCF licenses at the same address, so residents can move between assisted living and nursing care. Each home's CMS ratings, inspection results and staffing are on its directory page.

Is Clemson a good place to look for a retired parent?

Clemson has a cluster of licensed CRCFs and a retirement campus with a nursing home health care center, which draws retirees and returning alumni, and it sits between Easley and Anderson for families who live elsewhere in the Upstate.

AnMed and Prisma Health hospitals in Anderson, Easley and Pickens are the nearest acute-care hospitals. Check each Clemson CRCF's Alzheimer's unit flag if memory care may be needed later.
